The Van den Berg Farming was established in the early seventies at Marble Hall under the Loskop Irrigation Scheme. We started planting tobacco and we are still doing it with great success. With time the farms expanded and we obtained more farms in the Waterberg District, Naboomspruit. The Oryx Aqua plant is about 200km from Pretoria. The farm Gazelle and the surrounding area are situated on the rock formation of the Group Waterberg, built-up mainly from granulated sandstone. This sandstone is covered by coarse granulated sandstone, the formation Sandrivierberg. The last name forms part of the mountainous parts of the farm Gazelle. Water analysis was done on a regular basis by the LNR, GEO-CON (Geological Consultants) and water Lab & Info services from 1989 for the successful irrigation and cultivation of tobacco. After thorough research and consultations with several institutions involved with the analysis of the standard and quality for the water source, we decided during 2005 to set up a water bottling plant on the farm Gazelle. This is how Oryx Aqua came into existence. The scientific name for Gemsbok is Oryx Gazelle. The current water capacity on above mentioned farm is 400 000 (four hundred thousand) liters per hour. The farm GAZELLE and the surrounding area is situated on the rock formation of the Group Waterberg, built-up mainly from granulated sandstone. Thus you can derive that the mountain and sandstone formation on the farm act as the biggest and most natural filtration system for bottling of Oryx Aqua Mineral Water.
